Strong Showing for Providence in 'Cybercities' Report

The American Electronics Association's 2008 Cybercities report ranked the Providence-Fall River-New Bedford area as one of the nation's top cities in several areas measuring the technology industry. According to the report, the Providence metropolitian area is one of the nation's strongest, employing 39.2 of every 1,000 local workers.
The Providence area ranked number two for proportional change in high-tech wages, reflecting a 15 percent from 2001 to 2006. The region was number six on a dollar basis for high-tech wages, behind areas such as San Jose-Silicon Valley, Los Angeles and Austin, as the average wage for info-tech workers in the Providence metropolitian increased by $9,400 from 2001 to 2006.
