Firm Selected to Conduct Assessment of I-195 Surplus Property

A selection committee comprised of the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Saul Kaplan, Rhode Island Department of Transportation Executive Director Michael Lewis, and Thomas Deller, Director of Planning for the city of Providence announced today that they have chosen Cambridge-based Chan Krieger Sieniewicz to perform a redevelopment and marketing analysis of the land that will become available for redevelopment as a result of the relocation of Interstate Route 195.

Nine Firms to Compete for Opportunity to Conduct Assessment of I-195 Surplus Property

In June 2008, the RIEDC issued a request for proposals seeking a vendor to perform a professional redevelopment and marketing analysis for the I-195 surplus property. The analysis will evaluate land use solutions that maximize the economic and tax values of the relocation parcels and enhance the public use and enjoyment of the surrounding areas.

InQuest Technologies Announces Corporate Relocation to Rhode Island

RIEDC Announces Changes to State’s Expedited Permitting Program

The Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation (RIEDC) today announced changes to the agency’s expedited permitting process, known as Certificate of Critical Economic Concern (CCEC). The changes are designed to make the program a more useful tool in the state’s effort to expedite high priority economic development projects and to accelerate the creation of higher wage job opportunities for Rhode Islanders.

The Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation (RIEDC) today announced it will propose new rules to strengthen the agency's expedited permitting process, Certificate of Critical Economic Concern (CCEC). The agency cited the recent decision by commercial property insurer FM Global, Rhode Island's largest private company, to build a new $60 million, 340,000 square-foot headquarters in Johnston, as a model of how expedited review of high priority economic development projects can improve the state's business climate and retain and create high wage jobs in Rhode Island.

Quonset Gateway Breaks Ground

The New Boston Fund development team broke ground today on The Quonset Gateway, a mixed-use development at the 72.5-acre entryway to the Quonset Business Park. Local residents, community leaders, and elected officials who have worked to bring this project to North Kingstown celebrated the project that will create more than 2,000 jobs.
